YOUR PTO, YOU're PTO, YOU ARE PTO
This year the PTO has two themes we are focusing on:
- PRIDE = COMMUNITY
Your child(ren), you, your partner, your pets are all part of this wonderful Stratton Community. We not only share a school, we share neighborhoods, playgrounds and local businesses. Working together and looking out for one another is what makes a PRIDE strong.
This year let’s be PRIDE STRONG!
- BE READY TO PIVOT!
It’s not just a sports term, it’s a life lesson. It goes inline with the Robert Jordan quote, “The oak fought the wind and was broken, the willow bent when it must and survived.” As a PTO we are striving to bring back some of our beloved Stratton traditions. Safety is always a top priority, as is inclusion, and when we must, we will pivot to ensure that our actions and events reflect these beliefs.
And remember, as soon as your child(ren) start attending Stratton, not only are you part of the PRIDE; you are also part of the PTO!
STRATTON PTO'S ONLINE SUMMER CAMP AUCTION
Winter is HERE… with it the need for cold weather gear
Sometimes kids lose or forget their gloves, hats, coats, etc. Students without the appropriate clothing are technically not allowed outside for recess. Nobody wants that! So when a Stratton student finds themselves without the appropriate clothing to go outside teachers look to the Winter Recess Closet for supplies.
The PTO collects winter gear to fill the Winter Recess Closet. Please send in new or like new gloves, hats, snow pants, jackets and snow boots for Stratton for your child to place in the Winter Recess Donation bin.
It is the season to order online so if you prefer, check out the Stratton Winter Recess Closet Amazon Wishlist by going to:
Please note: Hats and gloves will not be returned to the closet once borrowed. If you student comes home with an item from the closet and you are able to, please pay it forward and replace hats and gloves, or wash and return coats and snowpants.
SNACK DONATIONS NEEDED!
Did you know that Stratton has a snack program? Research shows that students who are consistently hungry are more likely to have developmental and educational issues. Giving kids snacks allows them to concentrate on their learning -- not on their hunger. The snack program at Stratton, supported by Arlington EATS, makes sure that kids have access to nourishing snacks. Our goal is to provide snacks to any child who needs one so there is no stigma attached to being hungry. With this as our guiding principle, we know we will feed kids who simply forgot their snack, are growing, are extra hungry, or are from a family who is struggling to put food on the table. Once they have enough to eat, they can get back to the work of being a student.
With that in mind, we ask that if you can afford snacks, that you provide them for your child every day--knowing that if you forget one day, we have you covered! And, if you have the ability, we ask that you help support our program by donating snacks so we can always have enough for all children.
Please make a donation, please purchase snack items from the approved list below and drop them off at Ms. Lyons' desk in the lobby, or order from the approved Amazon Snack Wishlist.
Approved snack list:
- Applesauce cups
- Whole grain saltines
- Graham crackers
- Cheerios (must be Cheerios brand)
- Ritz Crackers
- Wheat Thins
- Nutrigrain bars
